Once you have had a few Lessons at your local Surf School you have a few choices to make first up should i go for a soft top or a hard surfboard?
In my opinion you can spend to long on a Soft top surfboard at the end of the day you will have to make the transition to a hard board at some point, to me this should happen sooner rather than later, the more you surf a soft board the more used to it you will get and the harder the transition will be. Soft boards are fun but they do not ride like a hard board, you can give yourself a false seance of your ability then when you do try riding a Hard board you are surprised at how hard it is to ride. So get yourself a good learner surfboard as soon as you can, with plenty of volume and from a local company that you can keep in contact with in case you have any problems. The relationship you will have with your local Surfboard company will help you progress onto your next surfboard when the time comes the Shaper will know you and your needs and help you progress to a decent level over the years.
